Bible Reading Schedule

Every new year, many Christians plan to read the Bible. Although the intention is pure, many do not complete this task (this author included). Reasons for not completing this task can range from the pressures in our daily lives, not finding the time or not knowing really how much to read daily/weekly in order to actually reach your goal.

The included list (JPEG and PDF Form) is a Chronological way to read the Bible. We are living in the New Testament. You need to also be knowledgeable and understand the Old Testament.

Although some may find this hard to believe, prior to us having television and even radio, many families gathered together at night after supper to read their Bible, if they had one. Before books were widely published, you had to attend Church to hear the Word of God. Many people were also illiterate due to not having to read things. So being able to HEAR the scriptures were very important. We now live in an age of luxury that those before us did not have. Many of us take this for granted and “put things off for tomorrow.”

Ideally, you need to try to devote approximately 30 minutes a day to read the Bible in order to read the whole thing in one year. If you can’t devote 30 minutes, don’t get discouraged! You can take one day a week to read the verses for the week. If you start mid-year, simply rewrite the dates on the schedule.

Reasons To Read The Bible

  1. Reading the Bible daily helps us to live life better.
  2. To do God’s will: It helps you obey God and not sin.
  3. To guard yourself from false teachings and false teachers.
  4. To spend time with the Lord.
  5. You will be convicted more of sin.
  6. To know more about our beloved Savior Jesus, the cross, the gospel, etc.
  7. To give us encouragement.
